So the air box and fuel tank have gone back in. The black plastic is 20 years old and was pretty faded. Brought it back to life with a ceramic coating called Cerakote. It just wipes on and restores plastic parts, pretty impressed. Also picked up a ProX air filter and Polisport chain slider. Old original foot pegs and mounting brackets were shined up. Gonna do the same to this old rear brake master cylinder in the next one 💪🏼

Honda CR125R

Been a minute since I posted an update of this CR125 rebuild. My last post said the shock spring was off for powder coating...and here it is! This is Iridium Red and was done by Maldon Shot Blasting in Essex, UK. Rebuilt the shock and fitted in the frame. The next few posts will be catching up all the work that has gone into the bike during lockdown. There’s also a build playlist on YouTube if you want to check out what’s been going on.

Subframe is restored and fitted...shock linkage has been refreshed with new bearings after the old needle bearings fell apart. Rear shock has been disassembled to be rebuilt and I’ve sent the shock spring off to be powder coated. Watch this space for the results! ⚡️

I started this rebuild project of a 2001 Honda CR125R by cleaning and restoring the 20 year old aluminium frame. After litres of degreaser, scotchbrite and tons of elbow grease the bare metal looks absolutely MINT! Time to source some parts for the next step of the rebuild.
