The oil filter bolt on this bike was completely chewed and attached to the filter casing, and preventing the engine to come out of the frame. Tried everything. Cutting a slot to tap, welding some leverage. No good. Ultimately I lost my cool and chopped it. Not very elegant, but it’s out and the engine is now on the bench!

Started rebuilding my carburettors last night. A few screws with seized heads and an enormous amount of old gasket gunk that someone put there, it will be a bit trickier than planned...

Unmounted my terrible old tyres, hoping to fit new rubber and to make the rolling chassis more mobile. Turns out my rims are pretty horrible. I’m thinking it might be an opportunity for fancy alloy valanced rims? Or at least raw stainless steel. No chrome, for sure.
